Start by clipping dry toenails to leave clean, even edges. Make sure to use self-collecting clipper to keep your bathroom free from old toenail clippings.
Use a nail file to soften any rough edges.
Next, take off any old polish with a non-acetone remover and soak your feet for 5-10 minutes in warm, soapy water. Add a capful of shea oil for extra moisturizing. For an elevated at-home experience, invest in a heated, massaging pedicure tub like this one.
Once your feet have soaked, gently scrub your toenails with a nail brush and get rid of any callouses with a foot file (these work way better than a pumice stone). For extra tough spots, try an electric file. Follow with a good foot scrub (this one works for your whole body) to get rid of any remaining rough skin.
Use an orangewood stick to push back your cuticles and a cuticle nipper (this one comes with a cuticle pusher) to trim any hangnails or excess skin.
Finish off the prep by working a rich lotion from your calves all the way to your toes.
Before you start polish, put on a pair of flip flops (this pair is great if you're sticking around the house, or these if you're heading out).
Wipe down the surface of each nail with a non-acetone remover and follow with your favorite polish. Keep things soft with a barely-there pink (use one coat each of these pink and white shades), or turn the heat up with an iconic red. To get on with your day a little faster, try these quick drying drops.
